Hi I’m Di Martin and until 1992 my husband Kim and I were living fairly normal predictable lives working hard for somebody else in mainstream work. For me it was the medical industry and for Kim in the automotive trade in Adelaide, South Australia. Thankfully that all changed when after a lot of planning and dreaming we purchased a retiring school bus and over the next 18 months lovingly converted it into a comfortable mobile home which served us well for 19 years. In November 2011 we took possession of our custom built mobile home, a project that took some 2 years to complete.
When we broke free of our comfort zone we came up against some negative comments about how would we find work, how long would we be away, and why were we doing it? We really had no idea how long we’d be away but anticipated it would be maybe 5 years or so. Well now almost 20 years on, this is how we live our life, permanently on “the road” and wouldn’t want it any other way.
Although there has never been any shortage of work for us, we’ve undertaken a varied and diverse range of jobs, some we chose , others out of necessity and sometimes that meant living in places that were not of our choice, we thought it was all part of the travel experience.
However that all changed when I decided to break out of my comfort zone again and leave my book-keeping position and look for something else, something that I could do for myself and not have to work for a boss again. Something that was flexible and would complement our other businesses in share trading and property investment. That’s when I found this opportunity and I’m so grateful. Now I’m able to work when I want and on my own terms, my home office is wherever we are at the time. I need only my mobile phone and laptop to run the business successfully.
